Employer brand for VSO

We help people recruit, retain and reward their best people. Working closely with the communications and HR teams across the world, we developed a compelling employer brand for VSO designed to inspire and engage their staff, volunteers and supporters.

This project was closely linked to the overall brand project, but looked specifically at those factors that motivated people to apply, stay and develop at VSO. We worked across 42 countries so the employer brand had to work for each and every team in each and every country. Equally, the motivations for volunteers as well as staff were vitally important to a successful employer brand.

We started with a series of workshops to look at relevant employee engagement statistics. We benchmarked VSO against other international development organisations. Following the research phase we developed a visual and verbal employer brand that would distinguish them from others in the sector, positioning them as an employer of choice.

Organisations are navigating an ever more complex environment, from ensuring they have the right funding sources, to driving down costs and increasing productivity. The expectations of employees are also changing with the growing focus on flexible working and transparency. Recruiting and engaging the best people will always be a critical factor to their success.
